GENERAL MEETINGS
MN ISSA holds its meetings on a quarterly basis and they generally have 2 speakers and networking opportunities. Typically chapter meetings are held the 3rd or 4th Tuesday of March, June, and September. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the start time (except virtual meetings) The 4th meeting of the year is the 'End of Year Cheer' multi-association, held in November, in partnership with other affiliates, such as the Minnesota Chapters of WiCyS, InfraGard, and the MCPA.
You are welcome to join us as a guest if you’re not currently an MN ISSA member! If you find value in attending our meetings and want to continue to participate, then we do ask that you become an ISSA member. Your membership provides great benefits to you and helps provide the funding needed to keep our chapter going. We appreciate it!
These meetings will rotate locations throughout the metro to align to our goal of reaching as many people as possible.
AFTER HOURS
Our After Hours format is more casual and interactive than our regular chapter meetings and is designed for those not always able to make regular meetings, for individuals from our larger local security community, as well as those who simply enjoy discussion with their peers and industry leading thinkers. Our After Hours events are typically Members Only, and are held on the last Tuesday of a month. The months will fluctuate based on Chapter Meetings, Holidays, etc., so check the website or watch social media for After Hours event updates.
Come out and join us – you’ll get informative presentations in intimate settings at great local venues, good food and refreshments, plus plenty of opportunity to refresh and build your network with valuable connections.
WEBINARS
Virtual seminars and webinars are offered to MN ISSA members and feature industry and subject matter experts from Minnesota and throughout the United States. The webinars allow us to expand on topics and discussions from chapter meetings, or explore new and emerging trends, impactful events, or requested content from our members and community. The format and structure change with the subject and webinar speakers, so be sure to check the event details for webinar details, links, and virtual session information.

The State of Identity Security in 2025
Welcome to 2025, where Identity-based attacks are on the rise! Once in possession of a valid identity, attackers move quickly and laterally across networks, vastly expanding the attack surface. Indeed, Identity has replaced the ‘end-point’ as the new security perimeter.
While a relatively mature domain, several factors are contributing to Identity Security’s significant upheaval:
- Increasingly sophisticated phishing and social engineering tactics
- The ongoing shift toward hybrid-cloud environments
- Interconnected supply chains
- The proliferation of B2B and non-human identities
In order to combat expanding threats, organizations are increasingly layering their Identity Security strategies with:
- Security keys and other passwordless approaches
- Enhanced multi-factor authentication techniques
- Zero trust and risk-based access controls
- Security awareness training programs
With all of this new complexity, how then, can organizations of all industries and sizes most effectively and efficiently shift to an ‘Identity-First’ strategy?
Please join us for our Q1 Chapter Meeting on Tuesday, March 18th, as we place our community focus on, justifiably and by many accounts, one of the most significant CISO priorities of 2025. We are returning to one of our new favorite private-room venues, Wooden Hill Brewing Company in Edina, where our panel of experts will break down the fundamentals of Identity hygiene, including the hardening of identities as a first line of breach prevention, protecting access to personal and financial data and halting egress, and staying ahead in the ‘arms race’ against AI-enabled hackers.

Kristy Livingston, MS EnCE, Adjunct Professor - Digital Forensics, Century College
Kristy is a collaborative and innovative information security leader with broad expertise around risk identification, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering and operations. Kristy is experienced in building and leading diverse teams, optimizing tools and processes, and enhancing operational efficiencies. As Adjunct Professor at Century College, Kristy empowers and inspires her students to work towards their career goals and prepare them to take the first steps into the field of Digital Forensics.
As a multi-year Cyber Security Summit Think Tank Member, Kristy is a well known and respected participant in the TC’s Cyber Security community.
Doug Brown, Managing Consultant, Virtual Guardian (part of Solsys/ ESi Technologies)
Doug has over 25 years of experience in identity, more recently focusing on Identity/API integration and non-human identities. He is passionate about building great products and product teams, bringing expertise and experience delivering use cases enabled by Digital Identity, Enterprise API Gateways, and CyberSecurity.
Doug has built up vast expertise in working with Industry leading companies in the Telecommunications and Finance industries. Doug also has tenures with Technology Vendors such as Sun Microsystems and Oracle.
Dan Zeh, Global IT Director, Apple Autos
Dan has over 25 years of technology, infrastructure and process experience and is the Global Information Technology Director at Apple Autos, where he leads the company’s technology strategy, cybersecurity, compliance, and infrastructure. With a deep understanding of enterprise identity management and its critical role in cybersecurity, he focuses on implementing secure, scalable solutions that protect organizations from evolving threats.
In addition to his role at Apple Autos, Dan is also the CEO of a Minnesota based MSP, a firm specializing in IT solutions that help businesses strengthen security, manage risk, and develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance and operational effectiveness. His experience spans multiple industries and businesses of all sizes, giving him a broad perspective on the challenges and best practices in identity and access management.
Beyond his professional roles, Dan serves as Secretary of the Executive Board for the Minnesota ISSA (Information Systems Security Association), where he actively contributes to advancing cybersecurity practices and promoting robust identity security strategies.

Ranae Moore-Jonsson, CISSP, Portfolio Information Security Officer, Albertsons
For over a decade Ranae has been leading corporate responsibility and action to drive the changing security landscape related to processing or storage of Payment Card Industry data in various product suites and technologies. Ranae has vast experience in process and procedure management within the Financial Service and Retail industry. She has managed direct reports while mitigating process deficiencies correlating with bill pay, EFT production support management, and Pre-paid South technologies. Most recently Ranae’s activities include Principal Cyber Security leadership, driving change across the organization to support a secure-by-default culture for Cloud and Legacy based app deployments and Infrastructure delivery. Ranae is a strong strategic thinker but also able to bring many varying points of view together to create something more robust.
Ranae is an Executive Advisor and past President of MN ISSA. She holds a degree in Masters of Science in Management.

Are non-members and guests welcome at meetings and events?
Yes, we welcome individuals at large from the security community to join us for any of our events. We simply ask that, after experiencing the value of our community at two events, individuals consider joining ISSA for the additional benefits that membership provides.
Why do we have to register to attend meetings and events?
Besides assisting the board with planning logistics for our events, registering for meetings and events, provides you with self-service documentation you can print out to support your CPE credits if you are audited.
